Baby Wipes

I started making my own baby wipes again. I had made them for a while, but still preferred store bought, but I found the right kind of wipes to use. I love them now and will never go back to store bought, especially since I can make these so cheaply. The recipe includes paper towels, baby wash, and baby oil. There is no alcohol which I love, and my pediatrician loves, he actually said he would have to keep me in mind for some of his patients. I am also considering going back to cloth diapers, but I am currently researching which ones are the most absorbent. I have also been researching the best ways to clean them. Hopefully soon I will have all that figured out, but until then at least I am saving money on wipes......

Me

For almost a year now I have been prayerfully trying to make several decisions. I have read my Bible, done several studies on certain passages, searched the internet, e-mailed back and forth with a godly woman who I admire (she is very seasoned in some of the ideas that have been bouncing around in my head), and read articles, and books on the subjects. What I failed to look at was the source of these questionings. It wasn't until a couple of days ago I stepped back after a whole year of not knowing, that I finally thought "Where did all this come from?". I really thought about it and realized where some concerns had come from and that despite the fact that they were well meaning, God calls certain people to do certain things. I have learned through my studies that God has a plan for everyone, and He will reveal each day to you as it comes. He very wisely gives us answers on a strictly need to know basis. I am grateful for the questionings, because it allowed me to get some answers to questions that I had about why people did certain things, but whether or not they are for our family is a different story. My husband and I have prayerfully set certain standards and we will continue to pray about specific things, but for now I will just continue to one the path God has for me.....

Cops and Kids

Today, in the park downtown (I say that like there is more than one park), the local police officers, firefighters, animal control, special ops, and EMTs held an event. The best thing about it, EVERYTHING WAS FREE!!! I took Monkey and Jewel down for a hour. We watched the drug and "bad guy catching" dogs do some demonstrations.

Then we got to see the city's new $1,000,000 firetruck.
He really liked the motorcycles (I think they were a little more his size).

Then we ate our hamburgers and hot dogs before heading home for a nap.
They gave away free t-shirts as well, but the only size left were mediums. He will grow into it. Jewel got her daddy extra fair skin and mommy didn't put any sunscreen on. Guess I should buy some to keep in the diaper bag for next time......

Bubbles

I don't usually put bubbles in their bath, because my children got their mommy's sensitive skin, but the other night after an afternoon of playing outside at Nana and Papaw's house I gave in........

Medicine

I have just finished making my lunch, but Monkey was already finished. My husband and I were waiting for the tater tots to finish, but he wanted goldfish instead. I cleaned him off and set him on the floor, so he ran over to play with Jewel. We begin fixing our plates when we begin to hear a rattling sound, I turn around to find he has opened a "childproof" medicine bottle and is chewing up some of the medicine. I knock what he has out of his and begin to scrape what I can out of his mouth. I rush him to the bathroom and start rinsing his mouth out. We call Poison Control, who tells us to take him to the ER because we don't know how much he actually swallowed. We rush him to the ER where they take blood and after a couple hours of trying to get him to drink charcoal. We have to wrap him up in a sheet to keep him held down, plus 1 nurse, myself and my husband holding him down and another nurse drowning him with a syringe of 60ml of cherry flavored charcoal. Meanwhile, he is screaming and crying "No! No!", I started to well up, but knew I couldn't cry. They also did a chest x-ray, and tried to get a urine sample to see if he had actually swallowed any of the UTI medicine (but he refused to pee in the bag. They finally let us go after 5 hours of observation. By the time we got home he had a diaper full of orange urine, and a after I changed that one the charcoal exited as well. We came home ate dinner put him to bed and threw away all the prescriptions we had. He is fine, thanks to the charcoal........

Play Time

When I was pregnant with Jewel I prayed that Monkey would adjust well to her being born. I was very concerned for a while, until God calmed my nerves and reminded me he is so young he will probably never remember his life before she was born. I know many children have difficulty adjusting when there is several years between siblings. I prayed that they would love each other. Thank you God for answering my prayer! Other than the occasional "Mine" over a toy, they play well. My prayer now has turned into please God may they never lose the love and friendship that they have now, may no other person or thing come between them. The other day they were having a snack, she was sitting in her chair and I was allowing him to eat on the couch. When she accidentally drops her cracker onto the floor, he says "Oh, no!", jumps up, runs over and picks up her cracker to give back to her. Also, if I give him something, like a cookie, he will ask for one to give to her as well. I love that they love each other! God help them to keep that love forever.......

We love the zoo!

We love going to the zoo! Monkey loves being outside and all the animals. We have a membership, and it is about 10 minutes away, so we go a lot. Today was probably the last day of really nice weather, so we had to take advantage before the heat wave hits. We would love to do this kind of thing every day......
